Asheville Web Design for People Who Have Better Things to Do

You have a business to run. Dogs to walk. Taxidermy. Kids. Taxidermied kids. Whatever. You have a full life. You shouldn’t have to become an expert in WordPress, hosting, SEO, plugins, updates, accessibility, analytics, or whatever new thing somebody insists you absolutely need this week.

We’ve been building websites for Asheville businesses since 1999. Our approach is pretty simple: figure out what your business actually needs, build it well, make it easy to live with, and don’t pile on a bunch of crap just because we can.

So… What do you Really Need?

Answer the questions and we’ll give you a practical recommendation, including the things you probably don’t need.

The objective is not to sell you the most stuff. It’s to identify the right problem before anybody starts spending money. You’re not signing up for anything, and we’re not looking for your email address (yet.)

Question 1 of 12 8%
1. What are we working with right now?

Every website has a history. Some of them have several.

2. What's the main thing you need the website to accomplish?

Not what it should contain. What should it actually do for the business?

3. How complicated is the business itself?

A focused local service company and a multi-location organization should not be forced into the same website plan.

4. What's the biggest problem with the current experience?

Pick the thing most likely to make you mutter at the screen.

5. How's the brand holding up?

A new website cannot permanently outrun a logo or identity you already dislike.

6. What shape is the content in?

Design is powerful. It is not a licensed substitute for useful words and good pictures.

7. What should a visitor be able to do without calling you?

A good website can answer routine questions and move people forward while you're doing your actual job.

8. How are people finding you now?

SEO should support the business. The business should not become a full-time support system for SEO.

9. Any machinery hiding behind the curtain?

Forms count. So do payments, calendars, email marketing, CRM connections and the ancient spreadsheet that apparently controls the western division.

10. Is there anything valuable on the current site we absolutely should not lose?

This is where redesigns get unnecessarily exciting if nobody asks the question.

11. How much of the website do you want to manage yourself?

You should be able to change normal content without a support ticket. You should not be required to develop a hobby around software maintenance.

12. What would make this project feel genuinely successful?

This is the part worth remembering when somebody suggests adding a carousel because “people like movement.”

What Do We Actually Build?

Website Design

New
Websites

Starting from scratch? We’ll organize the content, figure out what belongs where, design the thing, build it in WordPress, test everything, launch it, and show you how to use it when we’re done.

Website Maintenance & Repair

WordPress Development

We build WordPress websites that are flexible, manageable & designed for actual humans to maintain. No platform holding your website hostage. No calling us every time you need to change a photo, sentence, or page.

Branding & Logo Design

Website Redesigns

Sometimes the business has outgrown the website. Sometimes the website has simply gotten old and weird. We’ll figure out what’s worth keeping, what’s getting in the way, what needs fixing, and rebuild the rest properly.

Strategy & Online Presence Guidance

The Other Stuff

Forms, integrations, e-commerce, galleries, booking systems, analytics, foundational SEO, content help, photography, branding, logos. If your website needs something else, we’ll figure out what makes sense, what doesn’t, and the best way to handle it.

The goal isn‘t to build you the most website – it’s to build you the right website.

What Truly Goes Into a Website?

Probably a lot more than you think.
Fortunately, most of it is our gig.

A website project involves a lot of little decisions. We’ll handle the web-design parts, help with the fuzzy parts, and tell you exactly what we need from you along the way. You do not need to show up with everything figured out.

1. What You Know

We need: Your business, your customers, what you sell, what’s working, what isn’t, and where you’d like things to go.

We handle: Turning all of that into an actual plan for the website.

You don’t need to translate your business into web-design language first.

2. What You Already Have

We need: Access to your existing website, logo files, photos, copy, domain information and anything else worth looking at.

We handle: Figuring out what stays, what goes, what needs work and what absolutely should not get accidentally thrown away.

3. The Words & Pictures

We need: Whatever copy, photography, project images, team information and other raw material you already have.

We handle: Organizing it, identifying the holes and helping you fill them. We can also help with copy, imagery and content when needed.

You don’t need a perfectly labeled Dropbox containing FINAL-FINAL-USE-THIS-ONE.jpg.

4. The Website Itself

We need: Your feedback and decisions when there are actual decisions for you to make. We’ll need hosting and domain info (probably.)

We handle: Structure, design, WordPress development, mobile, forms, functionality, SEO fundamentals, integrations and all the little pieces connecting them.

5. Getting It Out

We need: A final look and your go-ahead.

We handle: Testing, launch, redirects, analytics, Search Console, indexing and making sure the important stuff still works after we push the button.

Launching shouldn’t feel like cutting the blue wire.

6. See You Later

We need: You to tell us if you want to handle things yourself or would rather we stick around.

We handle: Training, maintenance, updates, backups, troubleshooting and ongoing help as needed.

Either way, it’s your website. We don’t hold it hostage.

Get Started

You’re not a boring pain in the ass that rarely works and is difficult to keep updated. Your site shouldn’t be either.

You don’t have to have all the answers. We can figure out what you really need and want and build a plan around that.

Websites need thought, structure, strategy and all the buzzwords – and they need a straightforward process that keeps it all simple and stress-free. We can even have fun along the way.

You can also fill out this form and one of the coolest, kindest, smartest people you‘ll ever meet (and they’re also REALLY good looking) will get back in touch.
